Daisy Mae Buonopane, a longtime resident of Malden, passed away on Tuesday, June 10th, at the Melrose Wakefield Hospital. Daisy was born in Medford in 1927, the daughter of Earling J. and Vera B. Emeneau. At an early age she moved to Nova Scotia where she was raised and educated. She returned to the US in 1950, and settled in Medford with her aunt and uncle. She worked for National Paper in Somerville for 9 years, then started with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a Principal Clerk for the Department of Industrial Accidents in Boston. She worked there for 22 years until her retirement in 1989. Daisy married her husband Victor in 1959 in the Medford Congregational Church. They then settled down in Malden together. She and Victor shared over 40 years together until his passing in 2001. She was a longtime member of the First Nazarene Church of Malden. She also enjoyed handcrafts and gardening.
Daisy was the beloved wife of the late Victor E. Buonopane, the cherished sister of Anita M. Oickle, Betty J. Joudrey and late James H. Emeneau, all of Nova Scotia. She is also survived by 3 nieces and a nephew.
James Cargill "Jim" 61, of Malden, passed away unexpectedly on November 27, 2013, and is now in heaven with the Lord, where we believe he has a healthy body and is free to ride his motorcycle, paint till his hearts content, play horseshoes with Chick, and fish all he wants. Jim was born September 16, 1952 and grew up in Melrose; he attended Melrose High School where he excelled in track. He also attended and graduated Butera School of Art, in Boston, as well as the Massachusetts College of Art. He was a talented artist and a loving man who loved to ride, drive, paint, sculpt, cook, eat, smoke, fish, gamble, play poker, and bid 45 at Newfound Lake. He loved his family and would do anything for his sisters. He was loved by many including his late mother, Beverly (Runge) Cargill, his late father, Edwin Cargill, his late brother, Eddie Cargill and late sister, Joanne Cargill.
He is survived by his loving wife Helen (O'Donnell) Cargill of Malden, his beloved son, James Paul Cargill, of New Bedford, his beloved daughter, Jennifer Cargill Cunningham of Melrose, and son-in-law, John W. Cunningham, Jr., his beloved grandchildren, Alicia Marie Cunningham, Daniel Jacob Cunningham and Zachary James Cunningham all of Melrose, and he is survived by his lifelong best friend, Steven Turcotte, of Florida.
He is also survived by his beloved siblings, Ernest Cargill and his spouse, Rae of Colorado, Robert Cargill and his spouse Daphine of Melrose, Donald Cargill and his spouse Patti of Wilmington, Maureen Lucey and her spouse Mike of Malden, Janet Miller and her spouse Joe of Rowley, Beverly Cargill of Revere, Denice Greski and her spouse Rick of Melrose, Lawrence Cargill of Melrose, Dorothy Pinkham and her spouse Kevin of Lynn, John Cargill of Malden,.
He is also survived by his beloved mother-in-law, Alberta O'Donnell, of Melrose, brother-in-laws, George O'Donnell, Johnny O'Donnell, Dickie O'Donnell and Neil O'Donnell; sister-in-laws, Donna O'Donnell, Patsy O'Donnell, Linda O'Donnell, Donna Paradiso, MaryAnn O'Donnell Also survived by many aunts & uncles and many, many beloved nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Tuesday, December 3rd from 4:00-8:00PM. A Funeral Service will be held at the Malden Church of the Nazarene, 529 Eastern Avenue Malden, on Wednesday December 4th @10AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Edith Helen Doane of Melrose passed away on May19, 2014 at the age of 102. At the time, Edith was a resident of the Daniel’sHouse Nursing Home in Reading, MA after residing for 10 years at the Fitch Homein Melrose, MA.Born in North Brookfield, MA, August 31, 1911,Edith was the daughter of Leon and Grace (Hoyt) Doane and was precededin death by her sisters, Lois, Marion Bartley and her brother, George. Edith had a long and notable nursing career. Shereceived her RN degree from Worcester Memorial School of nursing and laterobtained BSN and Master’s degrees in nursing from Boston University. She workedas a nurse and also taught nursing in several hospitals along with beingDirector of Nursing at Portland Maine Hospital (now MaineMemorial). Edith retired as director of nursing for 14 years at Malden hospitalin 1975. But she remained a Nurse untilthe day she went home to be with the Lord. Edith wasa lifelong member of the Church of Nazarene in Malden Ma. Where she served asmissionary president, prayer warrior and taught an adult Sunday School classwell into her 90’s. Edith was quiet and humble, butwould often sponsor children to summer camps, adults for retreats and morebecause she wanted everyone to know the Lord. You knew if you asked Edith topray for you, that she would pray without ceasing and then she would rejoice inanswered pray. She loved to hear what the Lord was doing in your life. Edithhad a wonderful memory, smile and sense of humor. In Edith’s younger years she loved to traveland would often go on trips with church friends and then type up journals ofplaces she had visited. Edith went to Jerusalem, and drove cross county. Edithwas very proud of her hometown North Brookfield, and loved to tell storiesabout her life on a dairy farm. In her later years at Fitch she loved to havevisitors and catch up with what God was doing in their lives. Edith especiallyloved the nurses at Fitch some who she knew from her nursing career or the newones just starting out. She was always overjoyed to get mail from old friendsand visits from Dr. Grace, Linda and Lily.At Edith’s 100thbirthday she was asked “What was the secret to living to be 100” She wouldanswer with a smile “Having the Lord in my Life” Anyone who knew Edith would saywhat a special lady she was, one who loved the Lord and wasn’t afraid to tellyou about HIM. David Scott McLean, 47, a wildlife control specialist, passed away suddenly on May 3, 2013 in Rochester, New Hampshire. He was born in 1965 in Malden and moved to North Reading at an early age. He attended North Reading public schools and graduated from North Reading High School. He then attended Essex Agricultural College. After his graduation he moved to New Hampshire where he founded his own company, Commonwealth Wildlife Control. There he specialized in animal and bird removal from residential areas. He was an avid sportsman, and loved doing all things outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He was very dedicated to his daughters, and would often take his family out into the woods for boating, hiking, and camping trips. He loved the ocean and would spend hours there fishing with his daughters and beloved dog, Horizon. He taught his daughters the tricks to being a good fisherman. They participated in several fishing contests, where his daughters almost always brought home the trophy for the biggest catch. He always encouraged his daughters athleticism, and was actively involved with their softball participation, including coaching and umpiring their games. David was also a very passionate Boston sports fans, following all the teams, especially the Red Sox and Bruins. He participated in both baseball and hockey at North Reading High School. David's unique sense of humor and contagious smile drew people to him. His caring ways made him many friends. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew him and loved him.
He is survived by his mother Shirley Jenkins and her husband Stephen of North Reading, his father, Daniel McLean Jr, and his wife Lorraine of Revere, his daughters, Jessica McLean of Raymond, NH, Kelly A. McLean of Newmarket, NH, and Danielle F. McLean of GA, their mother, Donna McLean of GA, his siblings, Dennis McLean of Saugus, MA, Denise McLean of Wakefield, MA., Kyle Jenkins and his wife Katrina of Reading, MA, Keith Jenkins of Billerica, MA, Denise Croken of Revere,MA, and his grandmother, Eva Marshall of Malden, MA.
David was preceded in death by his brother Daniel L. Mclean III.

Herbert “B.J.” Maffeo III, a lifelong resident of Malden, passed away suddenly on Friday, June 15th, at the age of 31. Herbert was born in 1981, the son of Herbert “Bif” and Marie Maffeo. He was raised in Malden and graduated from Northeast Regional Vocational School with the Class of 1999. B.J. worked as a car salesman at the Pride Chevrolet Dealership of Lynn. He had a great passion for cars and enjoyed working on them, detailing them, as well as selling them. He also had a great passion for soccer. B.J. was also a lifelong member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Malden.
B.J. is survived by his parents, Herbert “Bif” and Marie Maffeo of Malden, and his sister, Amanda M. Maffeo of Malden.
Mildred Audrey Kitchen 82, of Albany, longtime member & friend passed away peacefully to be with the Lord after a short illness on Friday May 11, 2012 at St. Peter’s Hospital. We know Millie is with Jesus as she was a life long disciple of Jesus. The family will be having a Memorial Service for their beloved mother on June 9, 2012 @ 1:00 p.m.at Malden First Church. More info will follow. She was born in Lowell, MA and was the daughter of the late Albert and Bessie Freeman. Mildred was a longtime secretary at the Church of the Nazarene in Malden, Massachusetts. She was an Auxiliary member of the Gideon’s International and a faithful member of the Church of the Nazarene. Mildred was most happy as a devoted mother of Becky (Koos) Van Dam, Debbie (John) Reilly, Linda (Frank) Maltais and Doug (Lori) Kitchen. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at 11:00 Tuesday morning May 15, 2012 at the Church of the Nazarene, 2535 Consaul Rd. Schenectady. Interment will be in Peabody, Mass. at a later date. Linc Balcom - February 22, 2012 -Our love & condolences. He will be greatly missed by all. He was such a part of our church family and we loved him. Llongtime resident of Melrose, passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, at the age of 83. Mr. Balcom was born in Somerville on March 2, 1928, one of three sons of the late Howard Balcom and Madeline (Nickerson) Balcom. He was raised and educated in Cambridge and attended Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy. For many years, Lincoln worked as an operator for DuPont Chemical Co. on the south shore. He was a longtime member of the Malden Church of the Nazarene. Linc was an avid sports fan. He followed all the Boston sports teams, and for years supported Melrose High School sports, especially basketball and volleyball, as well as intercity league baseball. He was a voracious reader of books, and also enjoyed playing bridge, doing Sudoku and crossword puzzles, and was hard to beat in cribbage. Lincoln was known for his great sense of humor, his work ethic, and his humility. He will be forever missed. Lincoln was the beloved husband of Caroline (Hathaway) Balcom with whom he shared 48 years of marriage. Devoted father of Lynne M. Balcom Smith and her husband Peter Smith of West Newbury. Loving brother of the late Warren Balcom and his wife Jackie of Tewksbury, and the late Norman Balcom and his late wife Joan. Cherished grandfather of Ryan and Sage Smith of W. Newbury.
